The Times article, wide-ranging and well-written, exposes plenty of the petty depths to which people will sink, especially if they're allowed to be anonymous, and even if they are published writers.
For the record, I found Bissell's book enjoyable, though I really want to hear his response to the (anonymous) reviewer who put lots of specifics in an accusation of near-plagiarism.
